Everyday Makeup Routine
It has taken me a long time but I've finally found a makeup routine I am happy with. A routine I can just add to if I'm going out. A routine that looks natural (reasonably). A routine I can do do easily and quickly (again, reasonably).
Step 1: Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation with Tarte Airbuki Powder Foundation Brush
It looks like skin. It really does. Happier, healthier, less pimply skin. I was a bit worried before I tried this as powders or 'drier' foundations tend to dry my skin out quite a bit but this one doesn't. I'm not sure if that's got to do more with the fish oil supplements I'm taking or with the hydration of the foundation itself but whatever it is, it works. It does take some time to work into the skin but it's worth it. I was using another brush before buying the Airbuki but I am so glad I finally purchased it. It makes such a difference; it holds the product better, you can really work it into the brush and onto your face because the brush is so dense but also very soft. It does take a bit of time to dry after washing though so just keep that in mind. Wet brushes + powder foundation don't work out so well in my experience.
You can purchase both the foundation and the brush at Sephora. Their Australian version of the website isn't the best right now but do some currency converting on the normal Sephora website and you'll find that both products are pretty affordable.
Step 2: Ellis Faas Concealer
Wow. Wow. Wow. I've finally found a concealer I love. I've used the Nars Creamy Concealer and the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the past. Both were lovely but I found that the Nars was a bit cakey and the Fit Me didn't give me as much coverage as I needed. The Ellis Faas Concealer is like the best of both worlds; a lovely amount of coverage that you get with the Nars and a light, easily blended formula that I got with the Maybelline. And the packaging. The packaging is great, bullet shaped and like the YSL Touche Eclat, you twist the bottom and product comes out of the small brush at the top. It is a bit more expensive than your average concealer but so worth it.
You can get it at Mecca for $49. The girls that work in Mecca located in The Galeries are so lovely so I'd definitely recommend going there.
Step 3: Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
I've never been a fan of mascaras that give me big lashes. I know I know. Why wouldn't I be? But I like the natural look a whole lot better. If you apply a small amount of this mascara, you can get a reasonably natural look but with every application, I apply more and it builds up my lashes to the point where it looks like I'm wearing fake lashes. I love this look with a natural looking foundation and a small amount of lip balm on. Understated and chic. I now love big lashes. I can't wait to try some of their other mascaras.
You can also get this at Sephora. Same deal as above.
Step 4: R.l.linden & co La Bamba Rosa Healing Rose Balm
I've spoken about this product so many times before so I'll keep it short. Building it up on the lips gives an amazingly lush feeling to the lips and a nice gloss that has something special about it. It seems to make my lips look a shade deeper and plumper and I love it.
You can find it on the R.l.linden & co website and sometimes stocked at The Apothecary Store.
A routine I'll keep for a while. Hope one of these products makes a welcome change to your makeup routine.
